Indian Cricket Dominated by One Caste?
According to Andrew Stevenson in the Sunday Morning Herald , caste plays a dominate role in the way Indian team is selected. This is the most propostrous argument that has been ever made. Just the fact the the current playing 11 comprises of 7 brahmins does not mean that they were picked because the were brahmin. Does Andrew Stevenson think that Sachin Tendulkar or Anil Kumble would not be in the Indian Cricket team if he was of another caste or creed. I do not think so. All of the cricketers in the team deserve to be there and are selected based on merit and not some cast based politics. There is too much riding ( read money) on the success of the team to have any room for this sort of petty political gimmick. Thankfully, Salil Thripathi sets the record stratight
